How EBQ built and optimized ASSET Inc’s Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack to Amplify Their Impact

Find out how EBQ guided ASSET Inc. to maximize their Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) from day one using our implementation and administration services.

The Challenge

For over 30 years, ASSET Inc. fortified the national educational programs by providing resources to educators across the United States. To remain responsive to the ever-changing needs of the classroom and stakeholders, the nonprofit must continue to adopt a startup mentality and operational structure.

“We do so much that we don’t have time to do other things. We wanted to try to automate as much as we could and let systems do the work for us. We were previously doing things manually through spreadsheets and documents; we had to go to different places to pool information. That’s why we needed a centralized resource,” said Sarah Toulouse, the Executive Director of ASSET Inc.

ASSET Inc. had a CRM already, but the instance was not functioning as intended. That’s when the nonprofit turned to Salesforce and invested in their NPSP solution. As a first step, ASSET Inc. knew they would need to migrate their legacy information to the new single source of truth with an experienced administrator’s help.

The Solution

ASSET Inc.’s Salesforce Account Executive pointed the nonprofit to EBQ shortly after adopting Salesforce. Immediately, they were impressed by EBQ’s creativity and overall expertise in Salesforce.

“EBQ knows what Salesforce can and can not do — and the updates all ahead. That has been helpful for us to understand in navigating decision-making,” said Sarah.

To best serve ASSET Inc., the EBQ team met with their team frequently to talk through new ideas, implement new automation, and even address recently posed questions and concerns.

“The EBQ team has been very flexible and very responsive. The best part is that we’ve been together for so long that they now understand how we think on the fly. They appreciate and respect that things can change drastically as we get new information. They’re always in a place of acceptance, care, and willingness to let us puzzle through things and riff off the top of our heads about what might be the possibility. And they’re ok with that! That has been a strong suit and such a big help,” said Deborah Luckett, the Associate Executive Director at ASSET Inc.

Overall, EBQ’s team has been able to keep up with ASSET Inc.’s ever-changing needs and updates, which empower Sarah and Deborah to work through their Salesforce needs. As data points and information continue to change, one thing remains the same: EBQ’s commitment to earning ASSET Inc.’s trust through integrity and hard work.

“A critical friend is a trusted partner who provides insight, provides challenges, can push the thinking — but they can also tell you when to pause something. It’s a concept around ‘co-laboring’ because there’s a lot more work and action surrounding the idea of working towards a goal. I really do see EBQ as a critical friend that we can go to for advice,” said Deborah.

After two strong years of partnership, EBQ can now understand ASSET Inc.’s requests without much explanation. Their dedicated Project Manager — Cory Blacklock — has been able to translate the Salesforce technical processes to Sarah and Deborah while providing additional context to EBQ’s certified administrators to better their build.

“The EBQ team is by far one of the best teams that I’ve been able to partner with on projects. We’ve had Cory going back to the original projects — and having that continuity and being able to retain him and having Kenley (our dedicated Business Consultant) on board; that consistency has been helpful. They understand that we’re not a cookie-cutter organization, and they’re willing to work with us,” said Sarah.

The Results

With EBQ’s help, ASSET Inc. has implemented several of its initiatives — such as program management, which required updating programming and processes.

Throughout it all, EBQ’s dedication to amplifying ASSET Inc.’s impact through creating a more sustainable Salesforce platform has impressed both Sarah and Deborah.

“EBQ is absolutely an extension of our team! We operate as a small organization, so partnerships with other organizations help us achieve our day-to-day. Without EBQ, we wouldn’t be able to do huge pieces of work. We’re very selective about who we choose to spend our time,” said Sarah.

As Deborah reflects on our two-year relationship, she appreciates EBQ’s transparent processes and frequent project updates.

“I never felt like we were a customer. I felt that EBQ is in the work with us. EBQ gets what we’re trying to do, and they get why we’re doing it. I’m a big ‘why’ person, and that means a lot to me. If I had to put it into a nutshell, our relationship has been transformative — not transactional,” said Deborah.
